New Drexel Whiskeys Crafted In Detroit

Eastbank Spirits out of Detroit recently announced the launch of Drexel, a new brand of hand-crafted small-batch whiskeys. They’ve initially released two offerings- Drexel Irbon and Drexel Bourbank.

Drexel Irbon features what’s described as an exclusive blend of carefully selected Irish and straight bourbon whiskeys. Finished in sherry barrels, notes of dark fruit, vanilla, caramel, oak and spice can be found on the palate, according to official tasting notes. Drexel Bourbank, meanwhile, features a blend of three hand-selected straight bourbon whiskeys. With three different mash bills and a finishing in port barrels, notes of ripe fruit, caramel, vanilla, and oak can be found on the palate.

Eastbank Spirits has fascination with the art of blending and a love for Scotland, Ireland, and Detroit. All of its whiskeys are handcrafted in Detroit with whiskey enthusiasts in mind, showcasing what’s said to be ever-evolving flavor profiles through extensive experimentation, attention to detail and a focus on secondary maturation.

Secondary maturation takes place for roughly six to twelve months, depending on your base spirit and the barrel. This maturation allows for greater richness and complexness in each bottling.

“Every whiskey we create pays homage to the great tradition of blending while maintaining a focus on secondary maturation,” Founder and Head Blender Lance Havelka said in a prepared statement. “We concentrate on extensive experimentation and great attention to detail to constantly improve our range of whiskeys.”

Drexel Irbon and Drexel Bourbank are now available at retailers throughout Michigan.
