Ingram River Aged Expanding With More Planned Floating Barrel Houses

Brown Water Spirits, maker of the O.H. Ingram River Aged series of whiskeys, recently announced that recent growth in demand for their products led to the decision to double their operations and move to a larger facility in Columbus, Kentucky.

A statement from the distiller noted that this expansion includes a second floating barrelhouse, which will bring the total aging capacity to about 6,000 barrels. The new location will accommodate more than 15 additional floating barrelhouses.

Columbus, Kentucky is just downriver from Wickliffe, where the Mississippi River runs and the distiller sees sometimes 50 feet of water-level fluctuation in a season.

“Wickliffe was an amazing place to begin our journey, and it will always hold a special place in our hearts, but we outgrew our footprint there,” said Founder Hank Ingram. “Since launching in the fall of 2020, we’ve seen remarkable growth. Expanding operations and moving to a larger location are necessary steps to keep up with the market. This is going to be a big year for O.H. Ingram.”

Ingram River Aged’s new operations are located beside the 156-acre Columbus-Belmont State Park, with its status in the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.

The floating barrelhouses are unique to O.H. Ingram, and the River Aged whiskey spends years exposed to the climate and constant motion of the Mississippi River. The distiller noted that the motion of the river ensures that the whiskey never stops working, creating a spirit with robust flavor.
