Four Roses Reveals Plans For Massive Expansion of Distillery Visitor Center

Four Roses, the Kentucky-based distillery that has been providing the world with quality bourbon since 1888, recently announced a major expansion to their current home in Lawrenceburg. Plans include an expanded visitor center with tasting rooms that will allow them to double the number of visitors they can usually serve.

The planned 14,446-square-foot center will include four new seated tasting rooms, a state-of-the-art bar for cocktails and exclusive product tastings, an updated gift shop, and a 3,850-square-foot outdoor covered patio with cocktail bar. Also in the works in this regard are “interactive, educational experiences dedicated to the rich 132-year history of the Four Roses brand, including an interactive display showcasing archived Four Roses bottlings, vintage advertisements and other memorabilia.”

“We are proud to take this next step in our history and provide an enhanced experience to our visitors, while maintaining our commitment to producing top-quality Bourbon,” said Kelli Wright, guest experience manager at Four Roses, in a prepared statement. “Our new visitor experience will expand our hospitality and give our guests even more opportunities to learn about our brand, our history and heritage, in some very welcoming and comfortable new spaces.”

The distillers are also paying heed to Four Roses’ history with the design of this expansion. They’ve enlisted the services of Joseph & Joseph + Bravura, the same Louisville-based firm that helped create the original Four Roses distillery in 1910, a building that is on the National Register of Historic Places.

This expansion is the next logical step for Four Roses, which has seen a huge increase in visitors since its production facilities in the U.S. reopened in 2002 after years of their bourbon only being sold in Europe and Japan. Their visitor center, opened in 2004, was added as an official stop on the famed Kentucky Bourbon Trail. In the past five years alone, Four Roses has seen a 43% uptick in visitors to their Lawrenceburg facility and their warehouse in Cox’s Creek. The expansion is expected to be wrapped up by the end of 2021.
