Cask & Coast Spirits Co. recently launched Batch 2 of its core expression, “premium reserve” Cabernet cask-finished California bourbon.
Cask & Coast’s proprietary four-grain bourbon is distilled and matured in Indiana in new American oak barrels then blended in San Diego before being finished for 6 months in California Cabernet Sauvignon & Cabernet Franc wine casks from local vineyards. The bourbon is aged for a total of 4.5 years and is bottled at a hearty 102 proof.
“We were thrilled that our inaugural batch sold out so quickly and are extremely grateful to our supporters for their encouragement,” said co-founder and CEO Mark Kersey in a prepared statement. “Richard and I made a bourbon that we wanted to drink, and we can’t wait for everyone to try Batch 2.”
Cask & Coast California Bourbon has official tasting notes “of vanilla, almond, cocoa, and candied pecans along with hints of cinnamon, allspice, and orange zest.”
“Our blend was masterfully crafted by our own certified Sommelier to perfect and balance the contributions from each of the grains to create a complex profile that can be enjoyed with every sip,” noted the brand.
Cask & Coast Spirits Co., for those that don’t know of them, was founded by entrepreneur and former San Diego City Councilman Kersey and Richard Montaño, an entrepreneur, real estate investor, and certified Sommelier. Cask & Coast Premium Reserve California Bourbon launched in November 2022 and now has national availability online at caskandcoast.com as well as retail availability.
