The dog days of summer are upon us, there is no doubt. It is a time for light, refreshing whiskey cocktails you can enjoy as you chill on your backyard patio while watching the grass grow and the kids play. Should you know not how to craft a mixed drink, fear not, as there are some interesting concoctions already in bottle you just need to chill and serve, such as the rather new Bourbon Cream Liqueur from Brown Jug Spirits.
Said to herald from “an original family recipe,” the Brown Jug Bourbon Cream Liqueur is described as “a balanced blend of real dairy cream, bourbon, some special spices and then a dash of maple syrup.” It was created by those behind it after 18 months of experimentation, resulting in a rather unique 34 proof whiskey liqueur that will do well iced on its own or as a choice ingredient for something like an adult bourbon milkshake, among other drink choices (I’ve included a recipe for the milkshake at the end of this story that’s courtesy of Brown Jug).
Priced around $22 each, this new spirit comes in a distinctive old-fashioned style brown glass bottle. It is just starting to come to market now in a few places, so hopefully you can get your hands on one before the heat of the summer drops off if this type of drink is something you are into.
- 3 parts of Brown Jug Bourbon Cream Liqueur
- Whipped cream (optional)
- A dash of cinnamon (optional)
Add to a blender with the desired amount of ice and hit blend. Pour in a tall glass.
