Bhakta Spirits just launched its inaugural whiskey vintage, marking a milestone in the portfolio’s evolution into vintage spirits.
In a statement from Bhakta, officials there noted that vintage spirits is a burgeoning category seen by experts, collectors, and consumers as the next frontier of craft spirits.
This new expression from Bhakta is a single year vintage expression. Known as Bhakta Bourbon 2013, it is a 99% corn bourbon that has a secondary cask finish in French oak barrels that previously held Armagnac vintages dating back to Bhakta Vintage Armagnac 1868.
It has a suggested retail price of $149.
Bhakta Founder Raj Peter Bhakta said his first-ever bourbon symbolizes his return to whiskey.
“Isn’t it time we provided consumers with more information than afforded by mere ‘age statements?’” asked Bhakta. “Spirits lovers deserve to know … and I mean, really know … what they’re drinking.”
He said that single vintage spirits are the pinnacle of drinks. “There is no more precise indicator of quality and provenance than vintage,” he added.

Bhakta owns one of the oldest, largest, and rarest collections of vintage spirits. Their inaugural bourbon will be followed by further vintage releases across all major categories, including whiskey, rum, and tequila.
For this whisky vintage launch, Bhakta left WhistlePig only to unearth a historic cache of Armagnac vintages in a French château while on a global sabbatical in search of his next craft spirit breakthrough.
The statement from Bhakta explained that after acquiring the ancient cellar and property, Bhakta continued adding to the company’s stocks by seeking out fine vintage spirits of all ages, expressions, and categories.
“The Status Spirits category is red-hot, and explosive demand for high-end bourbon is driving a significant share of growth,” said Bhakta CEO Sean O’Rourke. “We’re seeing bourbon connoisseurs naturally evolve into the brandy category because it offers all the attributes they love, and with even more complexity, rarity, and age.”
The initial limited release of Bhakta Bourbon 2013 consists of 1,000 cases and is now available in 12 U.S. states. It’s also available directly from the Bhakta Spirits’ e-commerce store for delivery to 41 states.
