Valentine Distilling Releases Bosco As Latest Bourbon In Mayor Pingree Red Label Batch Series

Michigan’s Valentine Distilling recently added to its “Mayor Pingree Red Label Batch Series” with a corn and rye blended whiskey.

A statement from the distiller noted that their new expression, called Bosco, features a barrel composition of 52% 6-year whiskey and 48% 5-year whiskey.

Following on the heels of their Alina release, the distiller explained that Bosco was created to highlight the time dedicated to each batch of Mayor Pingree Bourbon, and their team narrowed down hundreds of barrels to make the final selection for each Bosco batch.

The distiller’s notes show Bosco as having an inviting and complex aroma, with notes of sweet corn mingling with the spicy kick of rye. Hints of dried fruits and a subtle malty undertone help create a balance between sweetness and spice.

On the palate, the distiller’s notes explain, the bourbon opens with a burst of sweet corn, with flavors of caramelized sugar and toasted oak. It finishes long, with the warmth of rye spice on the tongue.

“I love this batch, it’s the perfect follow up to Alina,” said Founder Rifino Valentine, in the prepared statement. “It has all the traditional bourbon notes that you want in an everyday drinker, with enough unique notes to make it a collector’s bourbon.”

The Bosco edition can be found where liquor is purchased around Michigan.

Valentine Distilling Co. has been making whiskey, gin, and vodka since 2007, and their Mayor Pingree Bourbon has received 93 points and a Top 10 ranking from Whisky Advocate.
