Fliquor Bean Brings Together Coffee and Whiskey

Fliquor BeanCoffee and whiskey are partners in crime for me, one to start the day and one to finish (I’ll let you guess which is which). Combined, they certainly have the potential to be good, though I’m always dubious of any flavored whiskey. Enter now Fliquor Bean whiskey, crafted in California from yes, you guessed it, coffee and whiskey.

The link between these two beverages is certainly nothing new here at The Whiskey Wash, as we’ve seen variations of this already in releases like the Mosswood Espresso Barrel Aged American Whiskey and Seven Stills Fluxuate. Interestingly, these are both also from California, which begs the question: is there a brewing industry for coffee whiskey in the Golden State? Get it, brewing industry? Haha. (Sorry, it must be the coffee making me goofy as I type this.)

Anyhow, I digress. With regards to Fliquor Bean, what you have here is an already established brand that was “created in late 2013 by Jerry DeFazio, a former Los Angeles television camera operator. When the show he was working on was cancelled, he began the legal gymnastics required to launch an alcohol business so he could share his passion for coffee and whiskey with the public in a brand new way.”

As for what’s in the bottle, you’ve got a 100% corn mash bill, produced by Bowen’s Whiskey, that’s combined with organic coffee beans which “come from Mexico’s largest farmer confederation, CoNaProMex, and are then custom roasted by a local micro roaster based in the Los Angeles area.” The resulting expression is bottled at a reasonable 81 proof.

One shot of Fliquor Bean is said to have the same caffeine content as a cup of coffee, and this flavored whiskey is seen as something perhaps best used as a cocktail ingredient. Should you want to hunt down a bottle, expect to pay at least $30.
