Daylight Wine & Spirits Launches Wine Cask Finished Ammunition Whiskey Collection

Daylight Wine & Spirits has announced a new collection of Ammunition Whiskey. Launching with a straight bourbon whiskey and straight rye whiskey, the whiskey and rye are produced in small 2-, 3-, and 4-year-old batches and finished in French Bordeaux and French Burgundy wine barrels which previously held Ammunition Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon and Russian River Pinot Noir.

With a mash bill of 60% corn, 25% wheat, 10% rye and 5% malted barley, the straight bourbon is dark amber in color with notes of caramel and butterscotch, and a finish of vanilla with a hint of richness courtesy of the Cabernet Sauvignon French Oak casks, according to official tasting notes.

The straight rye whiskey contains a mash bill of 95% rye and 5% malted barley and is colored dark amber with flavors of rich butterscotch and a hint of citrus with a finish of subtle notes of baking spice and red berries courtesy of the Pinot Noir French Oak casks.

“We’re thrilled to expand the Ammunition family with bold, well-aged, and approachable Bourbon and Rye,” Co-Founder of Daylight Wine & Spirits Andy Wahl said in a prepared statement. “We’ve applied our timeless craft and care to the Ammunition Whiskey collection, so whether you’re a wine or whiskey drinker – or both! – Ammunition will continue to be synonymous with the highest-caliber beverages.”

Founded in 2013 by Andy Wahl and Bill Kerr, Daylight Wine & Spirits is focused on producing what they say are world-class wines and spirits and connecting them with consumers, stating “We make wine and spirits for people. Not critics.” on their official website. One of Sonoma county’s fastest-growing independent wineries, the distillery combines traditional farming practices with tried-and-true winemaking techniques to craft wines that are true to their source.

Ammunition Whiskey is available in select national grocery stores and restaurants starting this month.
