Colorado’s Boulder Spirits recently released one of the oldest bottled-in-bond American single malts with their new Boulder Spirits 7 Year Bottled In Bond.
A statement from the distiller noted that the 7 Year Bottled In Bond is the first of its kind for them, a whiskey that’s rich in oak and balanced smoothness.
Since Boulder’s first bottled-in-bond three years ago, the distilling team has sampled most of their barrels seeking a highly developed whiskey that’s aged in Colorado’s intense climate, but they had to find a cleaner, not overly oaked expression. That led to the 7 Year.
“We’re happy that Boulder Spirits has been busy making American single malts since 2015, and we now have the stock to keep releasing these whiskey treasures,” said Alastair Brogan, co-founder. “Boulder Spirits will continue to be on the leading edge of the ASM category, and we look forward to future releases.”
He explained that only six barrels of whiskey went into this batch, yielding 1,200 bottles. The barrels were filled on April 15th, 2016, and were proofed with pure Eldorado Springs water to 100 proof and bottled on July 31st, 2023.
Boulder Spirits’ water source, nearby Eldorado Springs artesian water, is an essential ingredient of their whiskeys, along with imported barley and the distillery’s proprietary yeast.
Boulder Spirits 7 Year Bottled In Bond has a suggested retail price of $74.99, and it is available for orders and purchase at the distillery.
