Basil Hayden’s Caribbean Reserve Rye Targets Your Summer Drinking Time

What do you like to drink during the summer? A rum of some sort? How about a feisty rye? Basil Hayden’s, a super-premium American whiskey label from Beam Suntory, thinks you might want a bit of both, and this is taking the form of a new expression known as Basil Hayden’s Caribbean Reserve Rye, which we first reported a bit on a few weeks back.

Basil Hayden’s Caribbean Reserve Rye, according to those behind it, is a blend of eight year old Kentucky straight rye whiskey and four year old Canadian rye whisky that’s been finished with the addition of black strap rum to add some sweet notes to the final taste profile. There was no specific mention of the proportions of these three spirits in the final make up.

“With the release of Caribbean Reserve Rye, we wanted to give our fans a fun whiskey expression that you can bring out and share during warmer weather occasions, whether that’s mixing it up at an outdoor barbeque or gifting it for a housewarming celebration,” said Rob Mason, Vice President Marketing, Whiskey at Beam Suntory, in a prepared statement. “As a brand that has always broken traditional whiskey expectations, we’re excited to help our fans discover new, interesting ways to enjoy the rye category, and Caribbean Reserve Rye does just that.”

Plans call for this whiskey to be a limited edition offering, bottled at 80 proof and pricing around $45 per 750 ml bottle. It is packaged in a deep blue, hand-applied parchment bib and wrapped with the copper belt iconic to Basil Hayden’s. You’ll find some official limited tasting notes for it below.
