About:

An 11-Year-Old single malt from Campbeltown’s Glen Scotia distillery, bottled by the Dornoch distillery based independent bottler Thompson Bros. This exclusive single cask whisky was specially selected and bottled to celebrate the Thompson Family’s 25th anniversary at the Dornoch Castle Hotel in 2025. Distilled on the 24th October 2013, this whisky was matured for 11-years in a first-fill barrel. Only 235 bottles were produced, at natural colour and non-chill filtered. Bottled at 57.1% ABV.
Appearance:
Bright Yellow Gold
Nose:
The nose opens with fruity aromas of ripe red apples shifting to sweet vanilla and caramel accompanied by touches of cinnamon spice and gentle oak.
Palate:
Fruits open on the palate with pears, apples and peaches followed by sweet vanilla, caramel and golden syrup. At the mid-palate there’s a note of sharp rhubarb, shifting to oak and exotic hardwoods.
Finish:
A medium-length finish, resurging pear and apple fruits with hints of rhubarb shifting to pepper, oak and anise, warming tannins at the close.
Comments:
A great example of a Glen Scotia from Thompson Bros, this expression combines clear fruity notes with the vanilla and caramel from the first-fill cask maturation. I particularly enjoyed the sharp rhubarb note. Very drinkable with a warming finish.
