Tasting Notes

About:

A limited-edition single malt from Islay’s Kilchoman distillery, bottled for the brand’s European Tour 2026; a 10-week Land Rover expedition with visits to whisky retailers across 26 countries. This release is the first single malt botting from Kilchoman to be fully matured in Mezcal casks. Bottled at 50% ABV.
Appearance:
White Wine
Nose:
Bold Islay peat smoke aromas mingle with herbal agave and lime citrus alongside a touch of grapefruit. There is also a note of pepper.
Palate:
The bold Islay peat and smoke return to open on the palate, before giving way to an initially sharp blast of citrus developing into notes of lemon, lime, orange and grapefruit, alongside herbal agave. There are also notes of oak, pepper, and clove.
Finish:
Medium-long finish, with lingering smoke intermingling with citrus.
Comments:
I enjoy the interaction between peated whisky and Mezcal cask maturation, so was keen to sample the Kilchoman European Tour 2026 release. The bold peat smoke is well balanced with the tropical fruit citrus and herbal agave for a very summery whisky. I’m tempted to a second bottle.
