Tasting Notes

About:

The proof (111.1) is all you need to know with this bottle to understand where its coming from. A proud tribute to the US Army and its 250th Anniversary and 11/11 Veterans Day. A special release of Green River’s splendid Bourbon.

Appearance:
Melted candlewax
Nose:
Leather, black pepper, black tea, and next morning campfire ashes.
Palate:
Sweet caramelized sugar syrup enlivened by light fruit, like mulberries, and lemon. Then, back to a subtle sweetness on a layer of graham cracker. Mild tannins with a fresh oakiness. Does not feel as if it’s been in the wood too long.
Finish:
Very long curve, slightly smoky finish.
Comments:
Another splendid offering from the revived Green River – the coiner of the old slogan “The Whiskey Without Regrets.” However specious those old medicinal claims may have been, there’s no question that Green River is pushing bourbon past its boundaries now and producing products that one can buy fully without regret. A worthy submission to honor our army and its 250-year history of achievement and strength.

Editor’s Note: This whiskey was either bought as a sample by The Whiskey Wash or provided to us as a review sample by the party behind it. Per our editorial policies, this in no way influenced the outcome of this review.
