Crown Royal Regal Apple Review & Tasting Notes

Crown Royal Regal Apple delivers an intense apple-forward experience with notes of sour apple candy on the nose and a syrupy, sweet palate that works best as a mixer rather than neat.

Tasting Notes:

About:
A balance of classic Crown Royal whisky flavour, tempered with the flavour of regal Gala apples.
Appearance:
Slightly orange/gold
Nose:
This is a good thing, but you know that synthetic apple smell from all the sour sweets we ate as kids. That’s what it smells like. Some of that can be a little cloying and you do got the odd hit of alcohol through the apple mist of it all.

Apple sours shots, apple chews, sour green apple, all of that stuff. But there is a welcoming, refreshing quality to it. I don’t dislike it.
Palate:
You taste the sweetness of it straight away, has a very syrupy texture but not in the most complimentary way. Taste wise you get some vanilla and soft wintery spices like nutmeg and cinnamon, but it’s certainly apple to the core.

Less sour than the nose, more of apple liqueur taste – syrupy, sweet and has a little bit of heat to it to remind you what it is.
Finish:
The apple is less distinctive at the end, it’s got more of a ginger beer, apple soda, mixed whisky cocktail thing going for it. Decent finish in al honesty, it’s long, gently warming and has a little flourish of that sour apple note that draws you in
Comments:
As a neat drink I wouldn’t really drink this, but as far as a mixer goes this is quit good. I put together 50ml of this with some ginger beer in a tall glass with ice.

A little mint garnish on the top of it and it drank very nicely in the British summer heat. Fair play to Crown Royal, as far as whisky liqueurs to mix, this isn’t half bad at all.
