Wyoming Whiskey has released State of the Union, a limited-edition straight bourbon created to commemorate the 250th anniversary of American independence. The whiskey is available exclusively at select retailers throughout Wyoming for $79.99.

READ THE STORYState of the Union was created to honor both America’s history and the character of the American West. The release arrives as the United States will mark 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Wyoming joined the union in 1890 as the 44th state. The distillery is the state’s first legal producer.
“This anniversary is an opportunity to reflect on what endures—the land, the people, and the spirit of independence that continues to define America,” said Wyoming Whiskey co-founder David DeFazio. “State of the Union is our way of raising a glass to that shared history and the values that helped shape the West.”

The bourbon is aged for six years and bottled at 98 proof (49% ABV).
According to the official notes from the brand, the nose opens with raspberry and soft lemon, rounded out with a touch of sweet tea. The palate offers peaches and raspberries layered with white chocolate and brown sugar. The finish is described as “a sharp explosion of candied ginger and cherry, balanced by smooth milk chocolate.”
Like all Wyoming Whiskey expressions, State of the Union is shaped by the conditions of the Big Horn Basin. The whiskey is made with locally sourced non-GMO grains from Wyoming farmers and limestone water drawn from aquifers near the distillery. It is aged in newly charred oak barrels through the region’s dramatic climate shifts.

State of the Union is available at the Whiskey Shop in Kirby, Barrel House in Jackson and select retailers across the state.
Wyoming Whiskey was founded in 2006 by Brad and Kate Mead, together with partner David DeFazio. The brand was established with the goal of creating “America’s next great bourbon,” which has since expanded to include all styles of American whiskey.
The distillery uses corn, winter wheat, winter rye, barley, and water sourced from the Bighorn Basin. “Every drop is truly made of Wyoming,” the brand said.
