Woodford Reserve is expanding its Global Bar Exchange program in March and April 2026, with bartender exchanges planned across São Paulo, Naples, Dubai, and Mexico City. The initiative, which pairs bar teams from different countries for immersive cultural exchanges, launched with visits between Bar Cham in Seoul and Sins of Sal in Amsterdam in November 2025.
The Global Bar Exchange distinguishes itself from traditional guest shifts and advocacy programs by emphasizing deep cultural immersion over promotional activity. Host bartenders guide visiting counterparts through their hometowns, sharing favorite cafes, restaurants, street food spots, and personal hideaways.
Anna Vu Kim of Sins of Sal in Amsterdam and Jun Kwon of Bar Cham in Seoul participated in the program’s inaugural exchanges. “What inspired me most was the opportunity to learn and grow alongside passionate professionals from different cultures,” said Vu Kim. “The idea of sharing knowledge, exchanging perspectives, and building genuine connections around our shared craft felt incredibly meaningful.”

The two teams spent more than six days immersed in each other’s cities. “One of the most powerful moments for me was witnessing the transition from formality to genuine friendship,” Vu Kim shared. “Despite cultural and language differences, the teams created real memories and meaningful bonds.”
Kwon echoed this sentiment: “Despite cultural differences, I realized that bartenders around the world share the same curiosity, generosity, and passion for hospitality. The exchange reinforced the idea that the global bar community grows stronger through collaboration and shared experiences rather than competition.”
Both bartenders said the program’s structure set it apart. “What made the GBE stand out was how thoughtfully and personally it was organized. It never felt rushed or overly ‘touristic,'” Vu Kim explained. Kwon agreed: “By experiencing the city together and translating those shared moments into drinks, the collaboration felt organic and deeply personal rather than structured or promotional.”
The experience has reshaped how both teams approach their craft. “Creating cocktails inspired by what we experienced together has influenced how I now think about storytelling in drinks,” said Kwon. “I’ve become more conscious of where an idea comes from and what experience it represents.”
The 2026 schedule includes Guarita in São Paulo hosting Bar Basta from Berlin on March 3-5, L’Antiquario in Naples exchanging with Salmon Guru in Dubai, and Bar Mauro in Mexico City hosting The Aubrey from Hong Kong on April 14-16. Full details are available at woodfordreserve.com.
