Wemyss Malts has confirmed the return of Smoky Shores, now carrying a 14-year age statement, after the original expression sold out in full following its 2022 launch. The blended scotch whisky is available across the UK and EU with a recommended retail price of £65 (€75-78).
The follow-up pairs two single malts with contrasting relationships to peat. One is drawn from a distillery long synonymous with peated malt, shaped by a distinctly smoky style.

The other is a less familiar peated expression, drawn from a distillery better known for its unpeated house style.
Master Blender Isabella Wemyss selected and married the two from a small parcel of hogsheads. She set one style against the other to rebuild the coastal profile that made the original a favorite.

Fourteen years of maturation has deepened the whisky’s savory complexity and lends it a buttery gold color. A thread of citrus keeps the smoke from tipping into heaviness.
The release is bottled at 46% ABV and left non-chill filtered to preserve its texture. It carries a PPM of 10.

“Smoky Shores struck a chord with those who tasted it the moment we released it, and I always knew there was more to explore here,” said Isabella Wemyss, master blender at Wemyss Malts.
“Fourteen years maturation has allowed that character to evolve, while keeping everything people loved about the original spirit – the saltiness, the smokiness, and the crisp citrus bite.”
According to the official notes from the brand, the nose offers coastal brine fused with rich peaty smoke. The palate leads with medicinal peat and sea salt, harmonized by a subtle zest of orange peel. The finish is long and lingering, closing on notes of white pepper and warming clove.
Wemyss Malts is an independent, family-owned bottler based in Edinburgh, Scotland. The company also owns Kingsbarns Distillery in Fife and the Darnley’s Gin brand.
The expression is available online and from Luvians (Fife), Bread and Butter (Anstruther) and Isle of Skye Distillers (Portree).
