Wemyss Malts has launched The Castle Collection, a new range of age-stated, independently bottled single malt Scotch whiskies drawn from distilleries across Scotland. The series debuts with a sherry-matured Glenglassaugh 10-Year-Old, available in the UK from 5 November 2026, priced at £54 for a 700ml bottle.
The collection marks the brand’s first dedicated range of age-stated independent bottlings, building on its existing blended malt and single-cask expertise.
It takes its name from Wemyss Castle, the ancestral home of the Wemyss family in Fife, and is led by production director Isabella Wemyss.

READ THE STORYUnlike many independent bottlers, Wemyss Malts acquired much of the collection’s spirit as new make, maturing it in-house rather than purchasing whisky ready for bottling.
“The Castle Collection represents an exciting new chapter for Wemyss Malts,” said Isabella Wemyss, production director. “We’ve spent years building relationships with distilleries, and selecting spirit that we believe has real potential. For me, it’s about recognising the character and potential in a spirit, selecting the right casks and, importantly, giving the whisky the time it needs to develop. We want each release to have its own identity and tell the story of the distillery it comes from.”
Wemyss believes the approach reflects wider industry trends. “We’re seeing a more informed drinker who is increasingly interested in understanding how a whisky has been crafted, what defines its flavour and what makes it special, rather than focusing solely on age or region,” she said.
The inaugural Glenglassaugh was selected for its rarity in the independent market. The north-east coastal distillery was founded in 1875 and mothballed between 1986 and 2008.
Fully matured in ex-sherry casks, the whisky is bottled at 46% ABV, at natural color and non-chill filtered. Just 250 cases will be available worldwide.
According to the official notes from the brand, the expression offers dried fruit, caramel and oak spice, balanced by a fresh coastal character and a long, warming finish with a gentle maritime note.
The launch also reinstates the original Wemyss Malts logo, paired with handwritten script and parchment-inspired packaging.
Deep red detailing signals the sherried style, with future colors distinguishing other wood types. Further releases are already in development.
