Portland-based Von Ebert Brewing has released two Mexican-style lagers — a dark and a pale — as part of its new "From Dusk till Dawn" seasonal series, timed for Cinco de Mayo celebrations. The beers, dubbed Dusk Mexican-Style Dark Lager and Dawn Mexican-Style Pale Lager, are available at all Von Ebert Brewing locations in draft and 16 oz cans, as well as at select Northwest retailers, restaurants and bars.
Both lagers clock in at 5.3% ABV.
The official tasting notes from the brand describe Dusk as offering "lightly toasted and subtle caramel sweetness," while Dawn features "crisp, quaffable notes of orange blossom, light corn sweetness and cracker malt."
"Mexican-Style Lagers — pale or dark — are traditional beers we wanted to evolve with our own Von Ebert Brewing flare," said Sam Pecoraro, brewmaster of Von Ebert Brewing. "We hope you come out and join us ‘From Dusk till Dawn’ on Cinco de Mayo or pick up a four-pack as we welcome warmer weather with these light, quaffable beers."
The brewery’s N. Mississippi location at 825 N. Cook St. in Portland is pairing the release with food from partner food cart Tehuana Mexican Cuisine, which operates at the site daily, serving tacos, nachos and burritos.
Beyond the new lagers, Von Ebert continues to expand its broader portfolio. Visitors at all three locations can purchase 20-ounce mugs of the gold medal-winning Clubhaus Lager for $3 all day, every day. The brewery also now offers non-alcohol hop sparkling waters and hard seltzers, with plans for hard teas and hard punches later this year.
The expansion is backed by significant production growth. Von Ebert’s brewing facility at N. Mississippi has increased the company’s capacity from 4,000 barrels per year to a potential 20,000 barrels per year, and the brewery says it is more than halfway to that target.
Distribution has widened considerably as well. Von Ebert now sells products in 12-ounce and 16-ounce cans across Oregon, Washington, Colorado, California and Japan. The broader geographic reach and growing can format presence reflect a push by the Portland craft brewer to scale beyond its taproom roots into a regional and international operation.
The Dusk and Dawn series will remain available while supplies last.
