Unique Fettercairn-Inspired Vinyl To Be Auctioned For Youth Mental Healthy Charity

Tiny Changes, Scotland’s first national youth mental health charity, is auctioning a unique vinyl record of “Lorica,” a track written and performed by Mogwai’s Barry Burns and multi-award-winning singer-songwriter Kathryn Joseph in collaboration with Fettercairn Distillery. The one-off deluxe pink vinyl, signed by both artists, is the only physical copy that will ever be released for sale.

“Lorica” marks the first collaboration between Burns and Joseph. The music was inspired by the tasting notes from Fettercairn’s Vanguard release, exploring the concept of synesthesia, and how music and flavor can be interpreted as colors and shapes.

Tiny Changes was established by the family of Frightened Rabbit frontman Scott Hutchison, who took his own life in 2018. The charity’s name is drawn from a lyric in the band’s 2008 song “Head Rolls Off.”

READ THE STORY

Burns and Joseph said: “Tiny Changes is a charity close to our hearts who deliver incredibly important work. We loved creating this piece of music in partnership with Fettercairn and are delighted that it is now able to make something unique which will help raise funds for the charity.”

Kara Olayinka, CEO of Tiny Changes, added: “We are so grateful to Barry Burns, Kathryn Joseph and the Fettercairn team for creating something truly one-of-a-kind in support of Tiny Changes.”

Olayinka continued: “We love that this project visualises music and flavour in colours and shapes, as we help children visualise and process different emotions in this way, too. Collaborations like this help fund more youth-led projects that make a real difference in communities across Scotland.”

The vinyl will be listed for sale on Friday, March 20, via eBay. A digital download is available through Rock Action Records, with all proceeds going to Tiny Changes.

Fettercairn Distillery, owned by Whyte & Mackay, is a Highland single malt Scotch whisky distillery located in Aberdeenshire. The distillery is known for its distinctive tropical fruit character, attributed in part to its unique cooling ring system that cascades water over the outside of its copper pot stills. Its range includes the Fettercairn 12 Year Old and the limited-edition Vanguard expression referenced in this collaboration.

Proceeds from both the auction and digital sales will directly support youth-led mental health projects across Scotland.
