The new expression continues The Macallan’s tradition of selecting exceptional sherry seasoned oak casks for its Rare Cask series, which began in 2017. The Whisky Mastery Team identifies casks that display distinctive characteristics, particularly an intense sweet raisin note combined with rich complexity.
“These hand-selected sherry seasoned oak casks are a rare and special discovery, chosen for their rich depth of natural colour, distinctive aroma and luxurious mouthfeel,” according to The Macallan website.

Official tasting notes from The Macallan describe the nose as offering soft vanilla notes with rich raisin, followed by fresh apple, lemon and orange. The palate features an intense sweet raisin that transitions to vanilla and dark chocolate with light citrus zest layers. The finish is characterized as long, rich and velvety.
