The Last Drop Distillers has announced its 2026 Collection, comprising two rare releases from defunct distilleries: a 25-Year-Old Trinidad Rum from the Caroni Distillery (Release No. 41) and a 60-Year-Old Single Grain Scotch Whisky from the Carsebridge Distillery (Release No. 42). Both spirits will be available in limited quantities across the United Kingdom at select high-end retailers, bars, and restaurants.
The Caroni rum is drawn from two bourbon casks, one distilled in 1997 and the other in 1999, and is presented at 130.4 proof (65.2% ABV). Just 261 bottles will be available at an SRP of £1,750 for 700ml.
Trinidad’s Caroni Distillery closed in 2003 and has since been demolished, lending its remaining stocks near-mythical status among collectors and enthusiasts.
The 60-Year-Old Single Grain Scotch Whisky was drawn from cask No. 160237, laid down in November 1965 at Scotland’s now-demolished Carsebridge Distillery. Presented at 84.8 proof (42.4% ABV), only 140 bottles will be available at an SRP of £3,700 for 700ml.
“The 2026 Curated Collection brings together two extraordinary spirits shaped by time, rarity, and provenance,” said Rebecca Jago, director of brand experience at The Last Drop Distillers. “These releases embody the discoveries and stories we are privileged to share; spirits that reveal something truly singular and remind us why we search the world for moments of brilliance.”
“This Caroni cask is a powerful reminder of Trinidad’s rum-making heritage: bold, industrial, and unmistakably expressive,” said Kizito Owusu-Sarfo, Sazerac brand director of world aged spirits. “Decades of tropical maturation have revealed layers of character that speak to the island’s spirit and to Caroni’s enduring legacy.”
Owusu-Sarfo added that the Carsebridge release “offers a rare glimpse into Scotch whisky’s golden age. After sixty years in cask, it has developed a depth and quiet elegance shaped by patience, time and craft. I was taken aback when I tasted both and still find the flavors developing with each time that I have the opportunity to taste.”
Official tasting notes from the brand describe the Caroni rum as showing roasted nuts and spiced oak on the nose, with sweet papaya, stewed hibiscus flower, and spiced ginger cake on the palate. The Carsebridge whisky, noted by master blender Colin Scott, offers toffee and baking spices on the nose, with toasted almonds, crème brûlée, and a gentle, lingering finish.
Each bottle is wax-sealed, individually numbered, and presented in a bespoke case that includes a 50ml miniature, a pocket-sized tasting book, and an engraved stopper cork.
