The single cask Linkwood was priced at $106 (£80) per bottle and made available only to club members and select guests. The Fife-based bottler selected a cask distilled on February 10, 2011, and bottled it at 54.1% ABV.
“We knew from the moment we sampled the cask that it was something special, and we’re thrilled the response from the community has echoed that,” said Keith Rennie, Founder and Director at Saltire Rare Malt.
Falkland Golf Club continues to serve the whisky by the dram at its bar while supplies remain. The rapid sell-out reflects broader market trends, with Scotch whisky exports reaching record levels in recent years and collectors increasingly seeking limited-edition releases.
Independent Whisky Bottlers Eye Sports Partnerships
The collaboration represents part of Saltire Rare Malt’s strategy to work with golf and sports clubs globally. The company offers commissioned bottlings for organizations seeking exclusive releases. The partnership follows similar collaborations between whisky companies and golf clubs across Scotland. The country’s whisky and golf industries share deep historical connections, with many distilleries located near renowned courses.
Saltire Rare Malt was founded by Nigel Heywood and Keith Rennie, who have collected single malts for over 30 years. Independent bottlings of single cask Linkwood remain relatively uncommon, adding to their appeal among drinkers. The success of the Falkland Golf Club release demonstrates continued demand for quality whisky releases that resonate with drinker’s interests.
