Award-winning independent Scotch whisky bottler Saltire Rare Malt will host two exclusive tasting events in California this spring, marking the company’s West Coast debut as it continues to build its American footprint. The Falkland-founded bottler, named Best Newcomer at the 2025 Scottish Whisky Awards, will partner with Hi-Lo Liquor Market and Vintage Wine & Spirits for back-to-back showcases in late April and early May 2026.

The first event takes place at Hi-Lo Liquor Market on Wednesday, April 29, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM PST. The second tasting follows at Vintage Wine & Spirits in Lake Balboa, Los Angeles, on Friday, May 1, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM PST.

Guests at both events will explore a rotating collection of ultra-rare single cask releases from distilleries including Tormore, Ardmore, Dailuaine, Glenburgie, Linkwood, Benrinnes, and Teaninich. Expressions from Falkland, Saltire Rare Malt’s sister Speyside single malt brand, will also be featured.

The California program follows the company’s recent expansion into Texas and Louisiana, where a successful run of tastings introduced the brand to new US audiences last month.

Saltire Rare Malt Global Brand Ambassador David McCallum will travel from Scotland to host both evenings. He will be joined by Laura Sol, Business Development Manager.

Keith Rennie, co-founder and director of Saltire Rare Malt, said: “California is an exciting market for premium spirits and we’re delighted to bring Saltire Rare Malt to two fantastic independent retailers on the West Coast. These tastings are about sharing Scotland’s whisky heritage, the stories behind each cask and the remarkable diversity of flavor that single cask whisky can offer.”

Founded in Falkland, the historic birthplace of Scotch whisky more than 530 years ago, the company specializes in sourcing exceptional single casks from Scotland’s finest distilleries and bottling them only when the whisky has reached peak character.

The collection is curated by internationally respected whisky experts Hans Offringa and Becky Lovett Offringa, known globally as The Whisky Couple. The company was founded by lifelong friends Nigel Heywood and Keith Rennie.

Independent bottlers like Saltire Rare Malt occupy a distinctive niche within the Scotch whisky industry, offering collectors and enthusiasts access to single cask expressions that differ from a distillery’s standard portfolio. The US is one of the largest export markets for Scotch whisky by value, according to the Scotch Whisky Association, making the country a critical growth target for emerging brands.
