Planteray Rum has launched its Single Casks Premium 2026 program, inviting independent spirits retailers and specialist partners into its ageing cellars at Château de Bonbonnet, in south-west France near Cognac, to taste and select a cask of their own. The initiative spans six rum origins and eight casks, each bottled at natural strength in limited quantities exclusively for the chosen partner, with the retailer’s name featured on the label.

The 2026 selection draws on rums from Barbados, Jamaica, Fiji, Peru, Paraguay and El Salvador. Each spirit is paired with a different cask type, including Banyuls, Sauternes, Oloroso, Marsala, Port and Chardonnay.

Partners taste and compare barrels alongside the Planteray team before choosing the cask that resonates with them most. That barrel is then bottled at its natural strength, in highly limited quantities, exclusively for their store and customers.

“Sometimes a cask stops the conversation,” said Jonas Indesteege, global rum prestige collection brand manager at Planteray Rum. “We taste it, go back to it, argue over it. That is what I love about Single Casks.”

Indesteege added: “Even barrels filled with the same rum can take very different paths as they mature. Our partners taste alongside us, question us and choose the cask they want to stand behind.”

The eight expressions include a Peru 2017 Banyuls Cask at approximately 41% ABV, an El Salvador 2017 White Muscatel Cask at around 48% ABV, and a Barbados 2017 Oloroso Cask at roughly 50% ABV. The range also features a Jamaica VRW 2023 Chardonnay Cask and two Fiji Islands bottlings. All ABVs are a guideline, as every cask is bottled at its natural strength.

One additional release brings the program closer to home. The Fiji Islands 2019 Jukebox Beer Cask, bottled at approximately 48% ABV, grew out of a barrel exchange with Jukebox, a craft brewery from the Cognac region. After Jukebox used the barrel to age its stout, it returned to Planteray to mature a 2019 Fiji rum.

Planteray, formerly Plantation Rum, is part of Maison Ferrand, which also produces Pierre Ferrand Cognac and Citadelle Gin.

All expressions are bottled in 700ml format, with the Jukebox Beer Cask available exclusively at Château de Bonbonnet and Barge 166 in Paris. Suggested retail prices will vary by bottling and market.
