Planteray Announces Oceana Collection With Rare Rums from Australia, Fiji & Mauritius

Planteray Rum has released Oceana, the fourth chapter of its Vintage Collection, bringing together three rare single-origin vintages from Australia 2016, Fiji Islands 2012 and Mauritius 2014. The limited-edition rums were selected by master blender Alexandre Gabriel and will roll out across Europe and Asia Pacific from early October 2026.

Each expression was first aged in its country of origin before travelling by sea to south-west France for a second maturation in Ferrand casks.

The collection, titled Oceana – World’s Great Waters, showcases three distinct rum-making cultures and climates.

Planteray’s signature double ageing sits at the heart of the range. The method sees each rum mature under tropical conditions before a continental finish in France designed to add balance and texture.

“Rum has taken me all over the world, and I still love that moment of discovering a new place, meeting the people behind the rum and understanding how they work,” said Alexandre Gabriel, owner and master blender at Planteray Rum. “With Oceana, we found three remarkable expressions with strong identities of their own. That diversity is exactly what makes rum so fascinating to me.”

Fiji Islands 2012 was produced at Paradise Beverage Distillery in Lautoka. Made from molasses and distilled in a double-thumper pot still, it spent 11 years in ex-bourbon casks before three years in Ferrand casks. Bottled at 45% ABV, it carries a recommended price of €70 (£60/$75).

Australia 2016 hails from the Eagleby region near Brisbane, Queensland. The column-still rum aged for eight years locally and two years in France. It is bottled at 52% ABV with a recommended price of €75 (£65/$81).

Mauritius 2014 comes from a historic sugar estate on the island’s western coast. Distilled in a column still, it aged for eight years in Flic en Flac followed by four years in France. The rum is bottled at 50% ABV, priced at €70 (£60/$75).

The official notes from the brand describe Fiji Islands 2012 as layering molasses, plantain and roasted pineapple on the nose, with a long finish of vanilla, passion fruit and mineral notes.

Oceana will reach Canada and the US later in 2026, with America receiving only the Australia and Fiji expressions.
