READ THE STORYThe hit series Peaky Blinders followed the Shelbys, a powerful criminal family in Birmingham, England, in the 1920s.
The new Peaky Blinders Whiskey is bottled at 45% ABV (90 proof). It is a Kentucky Straight Bourbon finished with Irish whiskey oak staves, which the partners said was inspired by the Shelby Irish family’s heritage and “their transatlantic influence in later seasons.”
Barrel Global said the bourbon was selected and blended by its internal team and distilled at Green River distillery. The company described Green River as “a survivor of the Prohibition era,” linking the choice of distillery to the series’ narrative of smuggling Irish whiskey into the US.
George Koutsakis, founder of Barrel Global, said: “As a huge fan of the Peaky Blinders, it’s a privilege to capture their sensational gangster world in a bottle. From the liquid to the design, we wanted to create an immersive experience and I’m really proud of what we’ve achieved.”
Leila Loumi, SVP licensing and merchandising at Banijay Rights, added: “We were drawn to partner with Barrel Global because of their ability to act as a one-stop shop for creating the bottle from start to finish, while retaining the creativity and craftsmanship that we needed to bring the story to life. We can’t wait to see how the fans respond to this beautiful bottle.”
The official notes from the brand describe “cherries and stone fruit on the nose,” followed by “notes of honey, citrus and baking spices.” On the palate, the brand lists “bright stone fruit, toffee and cloves,” moving into “nutty, floral and caramel sweetness,” before a finish of “marzipan, pleasant minerality and cinnamon spice.”
Packaging for the launch was created by independent creative agency Boundless Bite Marketing. Barrel Global said the label includes references intended for fans, including “horses and pocket watches,” plus “interwar-era coins and bullets etched with the names of key characters.”
Peaky Blinders was created and written by Steven Knight and produced by Caryn Mandabach Productions and Tiger Aspect Productions for the BBC, with Banijay Rights handling international distribution. The series has sold in more than 190 countries and is widely available internationally on Netflix.
Banijay Entertainment has also confirmed further screen activity for the franchise, with two new six-episode seasons, produced by Kudos and Garrison Drama for Netflix globally, expected in 2027 and 2028.
