Ole Smoky Distillery has launched Espresso Whiskey, a new flavored whiskey available for a limited time starting this month. The Gatlinburg, Tennessee-based producer positioned the release as a convenient alternative to vodka for making espresso martinis at home.

The launch coincides with football season and the ‘Friendsgiving’ period. Espresso Whiskey will roll out at retailers nationwide and via ReserveBar starting this month.

“At Ole Smoky, we’re always looking for ways to build on trends that speak to consumers’ taste preferences,” said Tara Wiese, VP of Marketing at Ole Smoky Distillery. “With the growing popularity of espresso Martinis, we saw this as the perfect opportunity to offer a convenient, approachable way for our fans to enjoy their favorite cocktail with an Ole Smoky whiskey twist.”

The brand said the whiskey delivers a warmer, richer flavor than vodka and can also be enjoyed neat over ice.

“We’re known for our flavored moonshine and whiskeys, and the Espresso Whiskey also tastes delicious on its own over ice,” Wiese added. “We’re excited to give loyal fans and anyone new to our brand another reason to explore the delicious, smooth and innovative flavors that define Ole Smoky.”

The release plays directly into a surging consumer trend. The espresso martini is consistently ranked amongst the most-searched, most-ordered cocktails. Its rise is thanks, in part, to a global obsession with coffee culture and the meteoric rise of hybrid drinks that blur the lines between morning and evening rituals.

The brand’s signature serve combines 2oz of Espresso Whiskey with 1oz of freshly brewed espresso or cold brew concentrate and an optional 0.5oz of simple syrup, shaken with ice and garnished with three coffee beans.

Ole Smoky has form in flavor innovation. The company produces over 15 million jars of moonshine annually, making Ole Smoky not just the most popular moonshine in Tennessee but the best-selling moonshine brand in the world.

Founded in 2010, the distillery holds a notable industry distinction. It became the first federally licensed distillery in the history of East Tennessee, following the change in Tennessee law to allow the distillation of spirits in 2009.

The company introduced its whiskey line in the mid-2010s, expanding beyond its moonshine heritage. Its portfolio now spans dozens of moonshine and whiskey flavors.
