Nikka Whisky has signed on as the exclusive whisky supplier and sponsor of Tokyo Nights, a new immersive cultural experience combining Sumo wrestling and Japanese gastronomy. The month-long event will run from June 6 until July 8, 2026, at Borough Hall in Greenwich, London.

The partnership marks the first time Nikka Whisky has attached its name to an event of this scale in the UK market. The collaboration aims to celebrate tradition, expertise, and craft through live entertainment and whisky experiences.

Each evening, guests will witness specially organized bouts of Sumo wrestling, a sport that rarely takes place outside Japan. The event promises an immersive sporting spectacle combined with interactive food and drink inspired by the streets of Tokyo.

Nikka’s presence at Tokyo Nights will extend beyond simple branding. The whisky experience will include a dedicated cocktail menu and whisky tasting for VIP guests.

Attendees will be able to enjoy a range of expressions, including Nikka Whisky From The Barrel and Nikka Taketsuru, served alongside dinner. Bottled highball cocktails will also be available to order during the sessions.

Among the cocktail offerings is the Ginza Velvet Highball, a refined whisky highball made with Nikka Days, coconut, melon, and citrus cream soda syrup. The serve is inspired by Tokyo’s luxury Ginza district, famed for its vibrant nightlife.

Nikka has been steadily increasing its presence in the British market over recent years.

The brand recently celebrated the 40th anniversary of Nikka Whisky From The Barrel and secured a new grocery listing at Sainsbury’s, expanding its retail footprint beyond specialist channels.

Founded in 1934 by Masataka Taketsuru, widely regarded as the father of Japanese whisky, Nikka operates two distilleries in Japan: Yoichi in Hokkaido and Miyagikyo in Sendai. The company’s portfolio has earned a loyal following among fans of world whiskies, contributing to the broader surge in global demand for Japanese whisky over the past decade.

Tickets for Tokyo Nights are now available for purchase online.
