Aberargie Distillery marks 100 days until its inaugural single malt scotch whisky debuts in March 2026. The Morrison family-owned distillery near Perth, Scotland, will release its first barley-to-bottle whisky through specialist global retailers, with early access registration now open.
The launch represents the Morrison family’s return to single malt production following a 23-year hiatus after selling Morrison Bowmore in 1994.

Established in 2017 on a 300-acre farm, Aberargie has spent nine years developing its whisky using a distinctive barley-to-bottle philosophy.
The distillery grows heritage Golden Promise barley and Laurette barley on its own fields, maintaining complete control from farming through distillation, warehousing, blending and bottling.
Golden Promise, a heritage variety popular among scotch producers during the 1960s and 1970s, forms a central part of Aberargie’s production approach. Though lower yielding than modern strains, the distillery chose this barley for its flavor profile.
“Since filling our first casks in 2017, we’ve been patiently waiting for the moment Aberargie would be ready to share with the world,” said Graeme Mackeddie, Head of Distilling at Aberargie Distillery.
“With 100 days to go until the inaugural release, there’s a real sense of excitement and anticipation across the distillery team.”
Mackeddie described the whisky as “a flavour-first whisky shaped by heritage barley, natural depth and a strong sense of place.”
The distillery released a behind-the-scenes video showcasing its production process to mark the countdown milestone.
“Reaching the 100-day countdown feels especially meaningful for our business,” said Niel Hendriksz, Managing Director of Aberargie Distillery.
“After almost a decade of patience, reaching this milestone for Aberargie represents a true homecoming to this family business – a return to the craft that has shaped generations of the Morrison family.”
Hendriksz emphasized the whisky’s local provenance: “Every part of this whisky has been grown, distilled and matured on our land, and that connection runs deep.”
The single malt will be available from specialist whisky retailers starting March 2026. Interested buyers can register for early access at www.aberargie.com.
