Master of Malt Launches Global Independent Bottlings

Master of Malt, ahead of its 40th anniversary later this year, has launched a series of single cask and small batch whiskies which will be available across wider retail. The UK spirits retailer is taking its single cask whiskies to international markets for the first time, featuring releases from a 40-year-old Girvan to playful “Badly Drawn Dogs” bottles.

Master of Malt Expands Beyond Direct Sales

The new independent bottlings will reach retailers worldwide starting July 2025 via distributors across Europe, Asia-Pacific, and North America.

Headline releases include a 40-year-old Girvan grain whisky which is described by the Master of Malt team as “absolute nectar”. A 29-year-old Tobermory priced £199.95, and a 16-year-old Dailuaine at £69.95 also join the fold. Additionally, a run of Secret Speyside and Highland single casks start from £34.95.

“This new range is a love letter to everything Master of Malt has stood for over the past 40 years,” said Sam Simmons, Head of Whisky at Master of Malt. “This isn’t whisky for vaults or portfolios. It’s whisky for people who actually want to drink it, talk about them, argue over them, research them, and then pour another dram”.

The company maintains its policy of no added coloring and no chill filtration across all releases.

Alongside the core range, Master of Malt has announced “Badly Drawn Dogs,” a limited-edition series featuring humorous dog sketches on 350ml bottles. The collection includes a 21-year-old Loch Lomond, 25-year-old Invergordon, and 27-year-old Strathclyde, with prices starting at just £23.

Each purchase generates a donation to Battersea Dogs & Cats Home or Dogs Trust. The labels feature illustrations by Cal, an in-house customer service expert who also works as an artist.

Future releases promise further innovation, including a 50-year-old scotch, new world ryes, and experimental spirits such as seven-year-old cask-aged gin and cask-aged coffee liqueurs.

The company’s evolution from mail-order catalog to e-commerce pioneer began when Justin Petszaft developed their first website while studying theoretical physics. Following a partnership with AB InBev’s ZX Ventures, Master of Malt returned to independent ownership.

The new bottlings represent a significant shift in strategy for the retailer, which previously sold exclusively through its own website. Anniversary releases commemorating the company’s 40th year are expected throughout the remainder of 2025.
