The Macallan has launched the latest editions to its Harmony collection. Two new limited-edition single malt whiskies inspired by rare teas from JING mark the 2025 additions to its Harmony Collection. The releases combine centuries-old whisky craftsmanship with the ancient art of tea cultivation in an unprecedented collaboration.
New Whisky Expressions Honor Rare Teas
The 2025 Harmony Collection features two new whiskies the first inspired by Phoenix Honey Orchid Tea and the second is inspired by Organic Cherrywood Lapsang Tea, each crafted to reflect distinctive characteristics of each brew. The Phoenix Honey Orchid expression, available domestically for $207 (£152), takes inspiration from a rare oolong tea grown in China’s Phoenix Mountain range. This whisky underwent maturation primarily in sherry-seasoned American oak casks, developing what The Macallan describes in its official tasting notes as “summery peach, apricot, tropical fruits, and toffee” flavors.
The second expression inspired by Organic Cherrywood Lapsang Tea, will launch exclusively in Global Travel Retail on October 1. This expression draws from JING’s reimagined Lapsang Souchong tea, which undergoes smoking over cherrywood in the UK. Matured predominantly in sherry-seasoned European oak casks, the whisky delivers official tasting notes of “rich toffee and dates with warming spice, bursts of ripe berries and charred citrus peel.”
Sustainable Whisky Packaging
The whisky x tea collaboration extends beyond flavor profiles to sustainable packaging design. Both whiskies arrive in presentation boxes crafted from repurposed waste tea leaves, continuing The Macallan’s commitment to environmental responsibility within the Harmony Collection. This approach transforms agricultural byproducts into luxury packaging materials.
“Our collaboration with JING is a celebration of the parallels between whisky and tea—two crafts deeply rooted in nature, tradition and time,” stated Jaume Ferras, Creative Director at The Macallan. The partnership represents The Macallan’s ongoing exploration of cross-cultural collaborations, following previous Harmony Collection partnerships with Cirque du Soleil and the Roca Brothers.
The Phoenix Honey Orchid expression bottles at 43.9% ABV and became available August 5 through select UK retailers including Harrods, Berry Bros. & Rudd, and The Whisky Exchange. The Cherrywood Lapsang variant contains 44.9% ABV and remains exclusive to international travel retail.
