Loch Lomond Launches The Original Series: Three New Malts

Loch Lomond Whiskies has unveiled The Original Series, a trio of Highland single malts anchored by two brand-new expressions alongside a repackaged core bottling. The range launched on March 24, 2026, and is rolling out across major UK retailers and the brand’s online store.

The Original Series comprises Loch Lomond The Original: Triple Oak, Loch Lomond Oloroso: Sherry Cask, and Loch Lomond Peated: Rioja Cask. All three are non-age-statement single malts bottled at 40% ABV.

The Original: Triple Oak is the existing expression in the lineup, now presented in redesigned packaging. It is matured in three types of American oak cask —first fill, refill, and re-char— and carries a recommended retail price of $38 (£28) per 70cl bottle. The whisky is available at online through the distillery’s website and will appear at UK retail including in Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Morrisons, and Asda from March 2026.

Loch Lomond Oloroso: Sherry Cask is distilled in the distillery’s signature Straight Neck Stills and finished for six months in certified Oloroso sherry casks. Loch Lomond Peated: Rioja Cask is crafted using a combination of Swan Neck and Straight Neck Stills before a six-month finish in Rioja wine casks from Spain. Both new expressions are priced at $42 (£31) per 70cl bottle.

Michael Henry, master blender at Loch Lomond Whiskies, said: “At Loch Lomond, we respect but are not constrained by tradition, as we navigate our own path to freely explore flavour in our own way. This is what it means to be Scotland’s most agile and adept scotch distillery.”

He added: “The release of The Original Series demonstrates our continued growth in non-age-statement flavour profiles, bringing three standout expressions to retail that showcase our award-winning craftsmanship and commitment to first-class distillation and maturation.”

READ THE STORY

Loch Lomond is the only distillery in Scotland to utilize both traditional Swan Neck Stills and its unique Straight Neck Stills. It is also one of only four Scottish distilleries with an on-site cooperage.

Henry also highlighted the distillery’s infrastructure: “As well as our unrivalled capabilities in flavour creation through our Straight Neck Stills, at Loch Lomond we also have the benefit of our on-site cooperage, which allows us to carry out barrel repairs and charring to exacting standards and make sure each cask is the right quality for maturing our single malt whisky.”

Official tasting notes from the brand describe The Original: Triple Oak as offering “sweet honey followed by smooth soft fruits of peach and pear” with “a hint of soft smoke.” Oloroso: Sherry Cask delivers “toffee sweetness” alongside “peach, orange and brown sugar.” Peated: Rioja Cask combines “sweet honey and soft fruits of peach and pear” with “dark chocolate and a touch of orange citrus.”

First opened in 1965, the Alexandria-based distillery has positioned itself as one of the fastest-growing top-25 single malt brands in the world for two out of three recent years, according to IWSR data. In 2023, it was named Most Awarded Distillery at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
