Jura has unveiled the Jura 12 Year Old Oloroso Edition, a sherry-finished single malt Scotch whisky that marks the first release in a new range from the Isle of Jura distillery. The expression is bottled at 46% ABV with natural color and non-chill filtration, and will be available exclusively through specialist stores and online.
The whisky begins as Jura’s light new make spirit, shaped by the distillery’s tall copper pot stills, before maturing in ex-bourbon American oak barrels. It then receives a full finish in a combination of American and European oak Oloroso sherry hogsheads.

According to the brand, the whisky makers drew inspiration from the Spanish cultural tradition of Sobremesa, which places high value on spending quality time together after a meal.
"It’s an ethos we share: celebrating those shared moments and creating whiskies that bring people together," the brand stated.
The official tasting notes from the brand describe the expression as having "a sweet richness and a complex nuttiness that harmonises beautifully with our fruity and balanced house style." Key flavor markers include prune, caramelized walnut, and dried citrus.
Jura’s back-of-pack tasting device highlights prune, walnut, and dried citrus as the three key flavors, continuing the distillery’s mission to make whisky more accessible through clear age statements and straightforward tasting notes. That initiative launched last year.
The pack design features Jura’s distinctive bottle silhouette alongside hints of Andalusian mosaic tiles, a nod to the Oloroso sherry finish. A deep burgundy colorway evokes Spain, while foiling and embossing add a tactile quality.
The brand described the release as "an exceptional whisky perfectly suited to the Sobremesa moment — best enjoyed after a meal, shared with great conversation."
Looking ahead, Jura confirmed that a second expression in the range, the Jura 15 Year Old Manzanilla Edition, will launch in September. That release will also carry natural color and non-chill filtration, with a finish in Manzanilla sherry casks. The brand described it as having "enticing notes of zesty, aromatic citrus, almond and delicate sea spray."
The new range arrives as sherry-finished Scotch whisky continues to command strong consumer interest across the specialist retail channel, with distillers increasingly diversifying cask finishes to differentiate their portfolios in a competitive market.
