Johnnie Walker has unveiled Blue Label Azure, a coastal-inspired limited edition Scotch whisky available exclusively to global travelers through duty-free retail. The expression, created by Master Blender Dr. Emma Walker, will first launch with Avolta UK at London Heathrow Airport from May 2026 before rolling out to major travel hubs worldwide.

The release marks a deliberate push by the Diageo-owned brand to position its flagship Blue Label blend at the center of summer occasions. Johnnie Walker holds the number one brand position in travel retail and is the top-selling Scotch whisky in the channel, according to IWSR 2024 data.

Blue Label Azure has been crafted as a more vibrant and summer-inspired version of the classic Blue Label flavor profile. The bottle design was created in partnership with Colombian designer Johanna Ortiz, known for her coastal aesthetic.

Andrew Cowan, Managing Director at Diageo Global Travel, said: “This launch marks an exciting moment for Global Travel and for Scotch whisky. By introducing Johnnie Walker Blue Label Azure exclusively in travel retail, we are offering travellers something truly distinctive, an innovation they can only discover on their journey.”

Cowan added: “It not only elevates the Blue Label experience for new, seasonal occasions, but also showcases the versatility of Scotch in a way that resonates with today’s luxury traveller seeking unique, memorable moments.”

Following the Heathrow launch, the expression will be available at Changi, Incheon, Hong Kong, Bogota, Nice, and Paris airports, as well as other locations globally. It will also be sold at select cruise ships and at The Johnnie Walker Experience, the brand’s flagship store in Edinburgh.

Airport activations will support the launch, including a dedicated Blue Label Azure pop-up tasting bar in London Heathrow Terminal 4 and a presence in the British Airways corporate lounge. Targeted out-of-home and digital media campaigns will accompany the rollout.

The official tasting notes from the brand describe a blend of vibrant citrus and layered orchard fruits, followed by gentle smoke and sweetness, finishing smooth and balanced.

Dr. Emma Walker, Johnnie Walker Master Blender, said: “With Johnnie Walker Blue Label Azure, I wanted to explore a brighter, more coastal expression of the Blue Label flavour profile. The blend opens with vibrant citrus and layered orchard fruits, before soft waves of gentle smoke and sweetness begin to unfold.”

She continued: “As it develops, the flavours settle into a smooth, balanced finish that lingers like sea air at the end of the day. It’s a whisky designed to be savoured slowly, revealing new notes with every sip.”

The bespoke bottle is made from 100% post-consumer recycled glass. It is housed in a custom bottle bag designed to keep refreshments cool and serve as a reusable accessory for travelers.

Diageo has invested heavily in its Johnnie Walker portfolio within travel retail in recent years, seeking to attract new consumers to the Scotch whisky category through limited editions and exclusive expressions. The company’s global travel division continues to treat the channel as a key platform for innovation and brand building.

Blue Label Azure is now available at select airports and travel retail locations worldwide.
