Jack Daniel's Unveils Distillery Series #17

Jack Daniel’s has unveiled Distillery Series Selection #17, a batch-proof High Angel’s Share Straight Tennessee Whiskey. The expression launches in August 2026, drawn from the top floors of the distillery’s Coy Hill barrelhouses in Lynchburg, Tennessee.

The whiskey began as traditional Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey laid down in 2016. It rested atop Coy Hill on the top floor of Barrelhouse 1-13, undergoing a high angel’s share maturation.

As the barrels aged in the highest reaches of the barrelhouse, an increased amount of whiskey evaporated. According to the brand, this loss created a concentrated profile in the remaining spirit.

“This release is a perfect example of what happens when we let nature take the lead,” said Chris Fletcher, Jack Daniel’s master distiller. “By resting these barrels on the very top floor of our Coy Hill barrelhouse, the intense heat increased the angel’s share over the years,” Fletcher added. “What’s left behind in the wood is a beautifully concentrated profile that showcases a whole different side of our traditional Tennessee Whiskey.”

Jack Daniel’s whiskey taster Dale McGee selected the expression. The whiskey is bottled at a batch proof of 138.4 in 375ml bottles.

The official notes from the brand describe a palate of brown sugar, banana nut bread, and a hint of maple syrup, leading into a long finish with oak and rich, warm flavor.
