J. Rieger & Co. releases its most coveted expression with the 2025 Monogram Kansas City Whiskey Solera Reserve. The limited-edition release showcases the distillery’s unique Solera aging process and partnership with Spain’s historic Williams & Humbert Sherry house.

Master Distiller Nathan Perry and Co-Founder Ryan Maybee crafted this exceptional whiskey using a blend of Straight Bourbon, Straight Rye, and Light Corn Whiskey. Each component receives finishing in rare 500-liter Oloroso Sherry botas sourced directly from Williams & Humbert Solera Especial in Jerez, Spain.

The 2025 Monogram Kansas City Whiskey Solera Reserve carries a suggested retail price of $130 per 750ml bottle. The release will be available at select bars and retail locations throughout Missouri and Kansas, with allocated quantities reaching other major distribution networks.

J. Rieger & Co. Monogram Name & Production

The “Monogram” name carries deep significance for J. Rieger & Co., representing the brand’s most prized pre-Prohibition whiskeys. The 2025 edition honors this heritage with packaging that features “1887,” commemorating the distillery’s founding year. True to tradition, the distillery releases exactly 1,887 bottles annually, making each release highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts.

“The 2025 edition of the Monogram Whiskey is the crown jewel of our portfolio and a defining statement of what American Whiskey and innovative aging and blending techniques can achieve,” says Ryan Maybee, co-founder of J. Rieger & Co. “This year’s blend builds on our unique partnership with Spain’s historic Williams & Humbert Sherry house. Their century-old oloroso botas add unmatched depth and elegance to the whiskey—creating something rare and timeless.”

The distillery’s Solera method sets it apart in American whiskey production. This centuries-old fractional blending technique continuously replenishes each barrel with younger whiskey over many years, creating an ever-evolving blend. The expanded Solera system now includes ten casks, each aged between 50 and 100 years.

Williams & Humbert Partnership

J. Rieger & Co.’s relationship with Williams & Humbert began with the distillery’s founding in 2014. The partnership revived the pre-Prohibition tradition of “rectifying” whiskey with sherry by incorporating a trace amount of 15-year-old Oloroso Sherry into Kansas City Whiskey. In 2017, J. Rieger became the first U.S. distillery authorized to import sherry in bulk from Spain.

The Monogram’s base includes the award-winning Rieger Kansas City Whiskey, which established a new “Kansas City Whiskey” category with pre-Prohibition roots. This blend combines straight bourbon whiskey, light corn whiskey, and straight rye whiskey, each aged for at least four years, enhanced with 15-year-old Oloroso sherry.

According to official tasting notes, the aged Oloroso casks impart distinctive notes of dried fruit, spice, and subtle oxidative character. These elements create a smooth, sophisticated spirit that balances tradition with innovation.
