Spirits producer International Beverage has announced the recipients of its annual Spirit of Our Community Awards, allocating a £25,000 (~US$33,975) fund to 10 charitable organizations. St Andrew’s Hospice, Moray Rape Crisis, and Pulteneytown People’s Project were named as the three principal beneficiaries of the initiative.
The Airdrie-based company has donated £20,000 (~US$27,180) to be shared among these three main charities.
St Andrew’s Hospice in Airdrie was recognized for its child bereavement services in Lanarkshire.
Moray Rape Crisis provides support for people affected by sexual violence and abuse, while the Pulteneytown People’s Project is a community-led center that supports the local population in Wick.
A further £5,000 (~US$6,795) donation will be split among seven runners-up. These organizations include Lanarkshire Cancer Care Trust, Glenboig Development Trust, James Support Group, Elgin Youth Development Group, Wick Community Hub, Grampian Society for the Blind, and Dornoch Beach Wheelchairs.
The International Beverage Spirit of Our Community Awards program was launched in 2022 to reward organizations making a difference near the company’s head office.
In 2023, the initiative was extended to include communities close to the company’s five Scottish distilleries.
The competition was judged by a panel of International Beverage employees and external associates. It was open to any non-profit organization based near the business’s key operational zones in Scotland, including sites in Airdrie, Speyside, and the Highlands.
Eileen Rae, International Beverage business support manager and awards organizer, commented on the selection process.
“We received our biggest number of awards entries to date this year and our judges really had a difficult task when it came to selecting our top recipients,” Rae said.
“The standard of entries was extremely high as so many deserving charities applied with a host of community initiatives that really touched our hearts.”
She added, “We are delighted to announce our 2025 winners and runners up and look forward to hearing more on how their projects develop over the months ahead.”
The scheme is described as the company’s biggest charity commitment to date. International Beverage’s portfolio of Scotch whiskies includes Old Pulteney, Balblair, and Speyburn.
