Scottish independent family-owned whisky company Ian Macleod Distillers (IMD) has launched a dedicated Private Client Business, giving collectors and investors direct access to rare casks and limited bottlings. The new division offers exceptional casks from Rosebank, Tamdhu, Glengoyne and Laggan Bay, alongside bespoke experiences.
The Broxburn-based company said the business would provide clients with single casks and limited-edition releases directly from the brand owner. IMD stated this would ensure “the highest levels of authenticity, provenance, and confidence.”

Among the offerings are rare sherry casks from Tamdhu dating back to the 1960s. Clients can also acquire some of the final remaining Rosebank casks distilled before the distillery’s closure in 1993. A selection of Glengoyne casks, including bourbon and sherry-matured stocks from the 1970s onwards, will also be available.
At the younger end, clients can purchase new make spirit casks from Laggan Bay Distillery, IMD’s newest distillery on Islay.

The company noted it is one of only two drinks businesses able to offer single casks from its own distilleries across all four of Scotland’s principal whisky-producing regions: the Lowlands, Highlands, Speyside and Islay. Members will also receive priority access to limited-edition bottlings and future releases.
William Ovens has been appointed Head of Private Clients. He will work alongside Stuart Hendry, Private Client Director, with both bringing more than 25 years of experience in premium spirits.

Hendry brings 23 years with IMD, most recently as Head of Brand Homes, where he developed the company’s distillery visitor experiences at Glengoyne and Rosebank. He also launched the Glengoyne cask programme.
“I am delighted to be launching this exciting new business alongside my friend and colleague Stuart Hendry,” said Ovens. “Our goal is to build long-term relationships with private clients and provide access to some of the most remarkable whisky stocks in Scotland.”
He added that clients would be welcomed to distilleries including Tamdhu, which remains closed to the public, for behind-the-scenes experiences and stays at the Customs House accommodation on the Tamdhu estate.
Rosebank was voted “The World’s Best Whisky” at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2025.

The business will operate through direct client relationships and a network of specialist partners connected to high-net-worth individuals worldwide.
