Horse Soldier Bourbon has released Liberty Edition, a 13-year Kentucky Straight Bourbon limited to 1,776 bottles, to commemorate the 250th anniversary of United States independence. The limited-edition expression from American Freedom Distillery carries an SRP of $799.00 and is now available nationally.
Bottled at 100 proof after aging in new American oak, Liberty Edition represents one of the oldest and rarest releases in the Horse Soldier portfolio to date. A portion of proceeds from each bottle sold will benefit the Statue of Liberty & Ellis Island Foundation.

“The same quiet professionalism that defined our past now defines how we now distill,” said Scott Neil, president of Horse Soldier Bourbon. “This release signals that our next chapter is defined by performance.”
Neil added: “It honors where we’ve come from while marking a new azimuth in our journey. Liberty Edition is about craftsmanship and focus. We approach every release with intention, but this one carries extra meaning in its age, design, and purpose.”
The bottle itself draws on Franco-American symbolism. “Each Liberty Edition bottle is formed from bespoke French glass in recognition of the Statue of Liberty’s origin,” said Elizabeth Pritchard-Koko, co-founder and chief brand officer. “An antiqued copper label references its historic metalwork, while a radiant gold flame closure crowns the bottle.”
Pritchard-Koko described the packaging as elevating the release “beyond a commemorative release into a collector’s piece intended for both display and enjoyment.”
The launch coincides with a broader expansion for the Somerset, Kentucky-based brand. Horse Soldier Bourbon continues to develop Horse Soldier Farms, a production facility and visitor destination in Somerset designed to support long-aged whiskey programs and hospitality experiences.
The facility will incorporate a restaurant, outdoor event spaces, and access to nearby Lake Cumberland. Its grand opening is scheduled for July 4, 2026, timed to align with the national semiquincentennial celebrations.
Horse Soldier Bourbon was founded by members of the U.S. Army Special Forces team famously deployed on horseback into Afghanistan in October 2001. The brand has built its identity around that military heritage while steadily expanding its whiskey portfolio.
Liberty Edition is available through select on- and off-premise retail partners in key Horse Soldier markets. Consumers can also purchase online where available through the brand’s website.
