Utah-based High West Distillery has added Sherry cask finishes to its annual A Midwinter Night’s Dram release for the first time. Act 14 marks the brand’s 20th anniversary, and is available in limited quantities across the US.

Each bottle carries an SRP of $124.99 (£95 / ₹12,040). Consumers can buy it from the High West General Stores and highwest.com.

Act 14 starts with High West Rendezvous Rye. This is a blend of straight rye whiskeys aged between four and 10 years.

The blend uses three mash bills. MGP whiskey contains 95% rye and 5% barley malt. High West’s own distillate contains 80% rye and 20% malted rye. A third component, from Bardstown Bourbon Company, uses 64% rye, 30% corn and 6% malted barley.

Previous editions used Ruby and Tawny Port casks for finishing. Act 14 keeps these barrels and adds Amontillado, Oloroso and PX Sherry casks.

According to the distillery, the new casks add “new layers of richness, complexity and depth.” It called the release “the most ambitious evolution of the expression to date.”

Act 14 is non-chill filtered and contains no added flavor. High West bottles it at 49.3% ABV (98.6 proof). The brand noted that the proof matches human body temperature. It called this “a fitting touch for a whiskey crafted to accompany winter’s coziest moments.”

According to the official notes from the brand, the nose offers “wild strawberry, blackberry preserves and fig.” The palate features blood orange, cherry fruit leather, cinnamon-dusted plum crumble and apricot scone. The finish recalls “a jam thumbprint cookie and spiced chai.”

Act 14 is one of several High West releases this year. Its 2026 Bourye edition rose to 101 proof, and the brand also released the 2026 edition of the Prisoner’s Share, the brand’s red wine cask-finished blend of straight whiskies.
