The House of Suntory has partnered with celebrated Japanese painter Hiroshi Senju for a new limited-edition design for its Hibiki 21 Year Old and Hibiki 30 Year Old blended whiskies. Releasing on 22 October, the collaboration features Senju’s artwork on special presentation boxes for the two coveted expressions.

The partnership honors Hibiki’s pursuit of artistry and centers on Senju’s painting ‘Waterfall on Colors ‘Hibiki’.

The artwork utilizes ten shades of purple, inspired by the deep Kokimurasaki gradient that symbolizes the Hibiki brand and its connection to rarity and craftsmanship.

For the Hibiki 21 Year Old, Senju’s waterfall imagery appears on both the bottle’s label and its presentation box.

The Hibiki 30 Year Old is presented as a collector’s piece, encased in a traditional byōbu-style display with multi-panel screens, a reflective base, and a waterfall wrap at the neck of the crystal bottle.

Hibiki is a blend of whiskies from Suntory’s Yamazaki, Hakushu, and Chita distilleries, known for embracing the balance between people and nature.

Senju is a prominent figure in the art world whose paintings are displayed in institutions such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the V&A in London. He has also received the Foreign Minister’s Commendation for his artistic endeavors, and his museum in Kariuzawa is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

According to the official notes from the brand, the Hibiki 21 Year Old offers notes of honeycomb, sandalwood, and dried apricot, with a long, graceful finish.

The Hibiki 30 Year Old is said to have a profile of brown sugar, dried fig, gingerbread, and apricot jam.

Its finish is described as rich with blossoming elegance, showcasing the depth of Mizunara oak complemented by a warm hint of cinnamon.

The Hibiki 21 Year Old Artist Collaboration will have a recommended retail price of £750. The 30-year-old expression will retail for a recommended price of £6,240.

Both bottlings will be available from 22 October at select UK retailers, including Harrods, Berry Brothers & Rudd, and The Whisky Shop.
