
Maison Hennessy has unveiled an innovative reimagining of its iconic X.O decanter through a collaboration with generative artist Florian Zumbrunn and technical partner OK C’EST COOL, creating a limited collection of 40 unique pieces.
Digital Meets Traditional
Each numbered decanter in the collection features a custom design generated through algorithms and painted by a robotic arm, engineered by robotics expert Jean-Marie Ollivier. The process allows customers to preview and approve their unique design before watching it being painted onto their decanter in real-time at the Cognac boutique.
“In my work, I am constantly merging multiple disciplines. I blend the old with the new, human gestures with machine output, traditional techniques such as pastel and watercolor with lines of code,” said Zumbrunn, a graduate of Paris’s prestigious Les Gobelins visual arts school.
Artistry Meets Sustainability
The designs are painted onto an eco-conscious “second skin” shell made entirely from paper pulp, which protects the iconic X.O blend. Each piece is finished with a leather label wrapped around the neck of the carafe.
Zumbrunn’s creative process began with immersion in Hennessy’s heritage in Cognac, where he studied the art of blending eaux-de-vie and met the craftspeople who maintain the original X.O recipe created by Maurice Hennessy in 1870.

Each design emerges from millions of potential variations, with customers able to influence the final outcome through color palette selection at the boutique. The robotic painting process, engineered specifically for this project, ensures precise execution of each unique design while customers watch.
