A Scottish whisky dynasty marks its 130th anniversary with an unprecedented collection featuring the first-ever release from The Cairn Distillery, set to headline a major charity auction in October 2025.

Gordon & Macphail Presents Historic Distillers One of One Collection

Gordon & Macphail has created a unique trilogy of single malt whiskies for the third Distillers One of One charity auction at Hopetoun House on October 10, 2025. The collection combines three rare expressions with vintages totaling 130 years, matching the company’s years in business.

The centerpiece features the inaugural release from The Cairn Distillery, which opened in 2022. This marks the first time whisky from the Cairngorms National Park distillery reaches the public. The trilogy also includes a 75-year-old Glen Grant and a 52-year-old Benromach, presented in 50cl decanters on a custom crystal plinth by Glencairn Crystal.

“For 130 years, our family has remained dedicated to crafting and curating single malt Scotch whisky of exceptional quality and rarity,” said Stuart Urquhart, Operations Director at Gordon & Macphail. “This trilogy captures our past, present, and future, with each expression symbolising a milestone in our journey.”

Distillers One of One Auction Features Rare Whisky Donations

The auction organized by The Distillers’ Charity and Sotheby’s will showcase 40 ultra-rare whiskies from 36 leading Scotch whisky companies. All proceeds support charitable causes across Scotland.

The Gordon & Macphail collection represents different eras of the family-owned business. The Glen Grant 75-year-old demonstrates the company’s expertise in cask maturation. Official tasting notes describe the Benromach 52-year-old as recreating classic Speyside character with rich flavors and subtle smoke. The Cairn 3-year-old introduces the newest addition to Gordon & Macphail’s distillery portfolio.

Beanie Geraedts-Espey, Managing Director of The Distillers One of One, praised the contribution. She highlighted the significance of the super-aged Glen Grant, rare Benromach, and historic first bottle from The Cairn.

Gordon & Macphail operates both Benromach and The Cairn distilleries. The company, established in 1895, has built its reputation through four generations of family ownership. The anniversary collection showcases the breadth of their whisky portfolio while supporting Scottish charitable causes.

The one-off trilogy will never be repeated, making it a significant offering for collectors. Previous Distillers One of One auctions have raised substantial funds for The Distillers’ Charity, which focuses on youth and education initiatives in Scotland.
