Glenfarclas Distillery today marked its 190th anniversary with the release of Glenfarclas 190, a limited-edition single malt drawing on whisky laid down across five decades. The bottling is the final release in the family-owned Speyside distillery’s Anniversary Trilogy and will be available in the UK and international markets from August 2026.

READ THE STORYGlenfarclas 190 is bottled at 51.4% ABV. That figure was formerly 90 British proof under the system used to indicate alcohol content for the first 154 years of production at the distillery.
The release follows the distillery’s earlier anniversary expressions, Glenfarclas 175 and Glenfarclas 185.

The whisky was hand-selected by Distillery Manager Callum Fraser and Managing Director Douglas Belford. Fraser was named Scotland’s Master Distiller of the Year at the 2026 Icons of Whisky Awards, while Belford was recognized as a Master of the Quaich in 2025.
"In creating Glenfarclas 190, Douglas and I reviewed the incredible volume of casks in our warehouses and selected 78 casks to marry together to create this finished whisky," Fraser said.
He added: "Balancing the creation of a whisky that’s 90 British proof with getting the flavour profile we wanted was intricate work, all done by hand and without the technology many modern distilleries rely on."

According to the official notes from the brand, Glenfarclas 190 offers "a smooth, rich, velvety feel on the mouth" with flavors of green apples, sherry sweetness, spicy Christmas cake and a long finish with a touch of dark chocolate and fresh tobacco.
Fraser said the team drew on spirit from different eras. "We were able to pull out the fruitier notes from the 70s, rich sherried flavours from the 80s and 90s, and the toffee caramel notes from casks laid down in the 2000s," he explained.
The distillery has been licensed since 1836 and remains in the hands of the sixth-generation Grant family. It sources sherry casks from a family-run bodega in Jerez, Spain, and continues to use direct-fired stills.

A total of 15,000 bottles will be released globally with a UK RRP of £95 (US$127). The whisky is non-chill filtered with no added coloring.
