Glencadam Distillery in Brechin, Scotland, has extended its visitor center to seven-day-a-week operations in response to rising visitor numbers since the facility opened in November. The multimillion-pound experience will now offer full tour, tasting, café, and retail services daily, increasing capacity ahead of Scotland’s peak summer tourism season.

The move follows a recruitment drive by owners Angus Dundee Distillers to strengthen the team for the busy period. The expansion aims to accommodate growing numbers of domestic and international visitors while maintaining a premium experience.

Iain Lochhead, director at Angus Dundee Distillers, said: “Opening our doors seven days a week is another proud milestone for everyone at Glencadam — and for the wider Brechin community. Since launching the visitor center in November, we’ve seen strong and sustained demand from domestic and international visitors excited to experience the history, craftsmanship and character behind one of Scotland’s oldest working distilleries.”

Lochhead added: “This next chapter reflects the continued growth of the Glencadam brand. Every element of the visitor experience has been designed to celebrate more than 200 years of tradition, people and place, while creating lasting investment for the local area. It’s about honoring Glencadam’s heritage while continuing to invest confidently in the future of the distillery and the community around it.”

The announcement coincides with a strong showing at the 2026 International Spirits Challenge. Glencadam 10 Year Old was awarded gold, while the 18 Year Old and Reserva PX both retained gold for the third consecutive year.

Glencadam’s newest release, the 17 Year Old Réserve de Calvados, also earned its first ISC medal. Limited to 6,360 individually numbered bottles, the expression is initially matured in ex-bourbon American oak before finishing in Calvados barrels sourced from Normandy, France.

The distillery has also rolled out refreshed premium packaging across its range following bicentenary celebrations. The new brand identity highlights cask maturation, natural color and non-chill filtration.

Founded in 1825, Glencadam is one of Scotland’s oldest working distilleries. Its café will also now operate seven days a week, with a new breakfast menu launching on June 1.

Scotland’s whisky tourism sector has seen sustained growth in recent years, with the Scotch Whisky Association reporting that distillery visits exceeded 2.4 million annually prior to the pandemic, a figure the industry has been working to surpass as international travel recovers.
