George Remus Bourbon has launched Remus Repeal Reserve Series X, the 10th anniversary edition of its annual limited-edition series. The Indiana-based brand also expanded the collection with Remus Repeal Reserve Rye Whiskey, its first-ever rye release.

Both bottlings arrive during National Bourbon Heritage Month in September.

The Repeal Reserve Series honors the repeal of Prohibition and is inspired by George Remus, the so-called “King of the Bootleggers.”

Series X is bottled at 107 proof and blends three mash bills: the historic LBSV, LESV and the rarely seen LISV recipe. It marks the first time the LISV recipe has been used in the series. The expression combines multiple batches aged between 2008 and 2017. It was blended by master distiller Ian Stirsman at the Ross & Squibb Distillery in Lawrenceburg, Indiana.

According to the official notes from the brand, the nose offers French oak layered with vanilla, tobacco and dark chocolate. The palate unfolds with almond croissant and vanilla alongside balanced oak and a subtle pistachio richness, while the finish carries English toffee and candied almond.

The debut Remus Repeal Reserve Rye Whiskey is a limited-edition straight rye. It is comprised of 2015 and 2016 reserves of the brand’s signature 95% rye mash bill, bottled at 111 proof.

The brand’s official tasting notes describe a nose of butterscotch, caramel, French oak and cardamom. The palate offers mint, star anise, toffee and fennel, with a finish of candy-coated fennel seed.

“Series X captures everything the Repeal Reserve collection has stood for over the last ten years, pushing the boundaries of what a blended bourbon can be while honoring the history behind it,” said Stirsman. “And with our first-ever rye, we get to show a different side of our expertise. We’re proud to share both releases as a true reflection of our craft.”

Both releases will be available at select retailers nationwide from September, while supplies last, for a suggested retail price of $79.99 (£59).

Remus Bourbon is produced under Luxco, which operates as the branded spirits division of MGP Ingredients following its 2021 acquisition.
