Frey Ranch Launches Farm Strength Uncut Rye at 124 Proof

Frey Ranch Distillery has debuted Frey Ranch Farm Strength Uncut Rye, a six-year-old cask strength whiskey that becomes a permanent addition to the Nevada-based distillery’s flagship portfolio. The new expression is available now for $79.99 (£59.78) exclusively through the brand’s online shop and its tasting room in Fallon, Nevada.

The inaugural batch is bottled at 124.52 proof with no dilution. It is made from a mashbill of 100% Canadian Winter Rye, a variety suited to the cold-weather growing conditions of Northern Nevada, where temperatures can drop to single digits during winter.

Frey Ranch Farm Strength Uncut Rye joins Frey Ranch Four Grain Bourbon, Frey Ranch Bottled-in-Bond Straight Rye, and Frey Ranch Farm Strength Uncut Bourbon in the brand’s core lineup.

“Our Farm Strength Uncut Bourbon has outperformed even our wildest expectations since we launched it in the summer of 2023, so it made logical sense for us to expand our cask strength core offerings with a rye whiskey — especially as ultra-premium ryes defy the category downturn and are experiencing substantial growth within the overall American Whiskey industry,” said co-founder and whiskey farmer Colby Frey.

As with all Frey Ranch whiskeys, the new release is produced using 100% slow-grown grains that are grown, harvested, milled, and distilled on the brand’s 2,500-acre farm by Frey himself.

Official tasting notes from the brand describe a mild floral bouquet on the nose with hints of root beer and candy cinnamon. The palate offers cream soda and coffee beans, while the finish delivers dried mint and fresh rye grain. The distillery recommends enjoying the whiskey neat or on the rocks.

Frey Ranch is a member of the University of Kentucky’s Estate Whiskey Alliance (EWA), a designation recognizing true farm-to-glass distilleries. Colby Frey, along with master distiller Russell Wedlake, built the operation from a desire to create distinctive whiskey from grains the Frey family has cultivated for generations. The family motto, “Be good to the land and the land will be good to you,” is embossed on the bottom of every bottle.

Founded in 2006, Frey Ranch has grown into one of the top-selling ultra-premium bourbon producers in the U.S. and one of the largest whiskey producers on the West Coast. Its portfolio is currently available across 15 states.

The distillery also announced that Frey Ranch Farm Strength Uncut Rye will join its “Harvest the Savings” subscribe-and-save service later this year. That program, launched earlier in 2026, offers quarterly, bi-monthly, or monthly discounts of 5% to 15% on core expressions.
