Distillers One of One Auction Raises Nearly $3M

The Distillers One of One Auction, held at Hopetoun House near Edinburgh, has raised a total of $2.9 million (£2,316,722) in hammer prices to support disadvantaged young people across Scotland.

Hosted in partnership between The Worshipful Company of Distillers and Sotheby’s, the biennial event featured one-of-a-kind Scotch whiskies donated by leading distilleries.

All proceeds from the sale will go directly to The Distillers’ Charity’s Youth Action Fund.

The fund provides training, education, and employment opportunities for people aged 16–25.

The auction’s top lot was The Glenlivet SPIRA 60 Year Old 1965. The 1.5-liter bottle sold for a total price of $812,500 (£650,000).

Other high-value sales included rare expressions from The Glen Grant, Port Ellen, Ladyburn, and Laphroaig.

“There had been some concern ahead of the auction about how the market might respond in the current climate,” said Mark Littler, Whisky Market Expert and owner of The Whiskey Wash.

“But today’s results show that when you bring the right whiskies to the right collectors in the right way, the appetite is still very strong,” he continued.

Littler noted that the auction “has bucked wider trends and underlined that exceptional, unique whiskies continue to command real enthusiasm at the highest level.”
